SINGAPORE CORENET GLOBAL SUMMIT 2012: FROM THE MINE TO THE MARKET
At the recent CoreNet Global Summit in Singapore, Caroline Burns of Geyer and Matt Clugston, Regional Facilities Manager for BHP Billiton, had the privilege of presenting a case study of BHP Billiton’s new regional Marketing offices in Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC). Adopting the different perspectives of client and design consultant, they explored how the project objectives, decision making framework and design approach and philosophy, were underpinned by BHP Billiton’s core values of sustainability, respect, integrity, simplicity and accountability.
BHP Billiton understood that achieving simplicity didn’t mean taking shortcuts and was only possible with a deep understanding of all the elements involved. This project was a culmination of lessons learnt from past projects, significant global research and a willingness to do what was right. The result is a landmark office for BHP Billiton, which creates an atmosphere unequalled in innovation, technical services, sustainability and quality of working environment. The premises have been designed to incorporate leading technology and lifecycle sustainability for 10+ years and demonstrate the significant business and real estate benefits that are achieved when the Facilities team drive the project objectives and outcomes.
The Summit was attended by 500 delegates from the Asia Pacific region and beyond. You can download a copy of the presentation here.
