NEXT Hotel Geyer refurbishes Iconic Chifley® at Lennons into first NEXT Hotel

The historic Chifley® at Lennons Hotel was considered an underperforming asset for SilverNeedle Hospitality. With the G20 Summit approaching, SilverNeedle Hospitality saw the perfect opportunity to establish a new brand strategy and relaunch their asset for business travellers.

To address the client brief, Geyer explored and interpreted insightful knowledge of the business traveller to translate the NEXT Hotels® brand into the physical design of the iconic hotel, delivering a design which emphasises choice, intuitive technology and world class service, and embodies the traits of Brisbane modern living.

SilverNeedle Hospitality involved Geyer in developing the entire guest experience: from the very early stages of a guest planning and reserving their trip, to their arrival and stay at the hotel, through to their departure.

The close collaboration with SilverNeedle Hospitality and depth of insight into guest behaviour enabled Geyer to design a solution that aesthetically delivered the brand and operationally facilitated the NEXT Hotels® experience at each stage of the journey.

Its contemporary design complements the aesthetics of the council’s vibrant laneways project and features a dedicated entry to the hotel from both Queen Street Mall and Burnett Lane.

The Level 4 club lounge and pool deck, overlooking Queen Street Mall, brings a new, sophisticated social destination and dynamic event space to Brisbane. The Queen Street Mall entry and façade refurbishment activates spaces for the public, designed to encourage both hotel and non-hotel guests to enjoy the Hotel’s open kitchen restaurant, bar and retail offerings.

Room capacity at the Hotel has almost doubled from 154 rooms to 304, and rooms have been tailored to the modern business traveller, offering the ideal blend of flexibility and convenience, a choice of self-service or full service, providing greater value to guests.

To maximise the performance of the property, Geyer re-configured and upgraded each level, upgraded all services, expanded the building envelope and reconfigured the retail area to attract more high-end retail tenancies and the first Forever 21 in Australia.
