Winning an international design competition, Geyer was appointed to create a new cultural centre in Sydney to help position The Institute on a global scale. This is the first Instituto Cervantes in Australia, designed to further increase the understanding and awareness of Spanish language and culture across the Asia-Pacific.
The centre is positioned in a prominent, stand alone site, with its own unique character and history. It forms a dynamic and interactive hub that reflects and embraces modern Spanish culture, challenges outdated stereotypes, supports and creates dialog with the local community, attracts and educates a broad spectrum of students and extends the appreciation of the Spanish language and culture throughout Australia. The environment includes welcome/information area, exhibition space, a cafe, auditorium and library space.
